Install and troubleshooting
Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" (SmartScreen)
The installer is not signed with a publisher certificate, so SmartScreen shows this warning whatever the age of the release, and it is not flagging a virus. Click "More info" then "Run anyway". You can check the file is the right one by comparing its SHA-256 hash with the one shown on the download page.
My antivirus or EDR is blocking the install
Tweaking tools touch the registry, services and startup: some antivirus products class them as a false positive. Check the SHA-256 hash of the downloaded file first; if it matches, add an exclusion for AngAinOne-win-Setup.exe, or report the false positive to your vendor. Never turn your antivirus off completely.
Do I need to be an administrator? What is the UAC prompt for?
On first launch, the app installs a Windows service that needs system access: Windows then shows a UAC window, accept it. That is the only elevation asked for — after that the app itself runs without administrator rights. On a Windows account without those rights, the service cannot be installed.
What does uninstalling leave behind?
Uninstalling AngAinOne does not put Windows settings back to their original state. The dedicated page lists what stays and how to roll back — it is the only one that counts.
How do I undo a tweak I applied?
Before every batch of tweaks or presets, the app takes a snapshot of the original values: the "Undo the last run" button replays the last batch applied to restore those values — it covers the whole batch, not one isolated tweak. Also consider creating a Windows restore point before a big session, as an extra safety net.
The AngAinOne service is not responding
Close the app and open it again: it restarts the service on launch. If the problem persists, check that the "AngAinOne Service" service is running in services.msc, or reinstall the app over itself (the installer repairs the service). The Activity log and Help pages inside the app give you the log export and the service restart procedure.
How do I get a refund on a subscription?
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal (unless you expressly waived it to start the service immediately). Cancellation happens from your subscription area; the exact conditions are in the terms of sale.
The BIOS capture does not show all my settings
Reading the BIOS relies on what the motherboard exposes to Windows: some manufacturers publish very little. The feature is then degraded, not blocked — the rest of the app works normally. You can report a missing option from inside the app.
Which systems are supported?
Windows 11, 64-bit. The required .NET 9 runtime is installed automatically when needed.
Is AngAinOne free?
Yes. Tuning your PC is free, no card needed. Paid plans (Pro, Streamer, Enterprise) add features around it (advanced BIOS, extended presets, streaming).
Questions about the modules
The modules we get asked about the most, in two sentences each. The full list of the app modules is on About.
What is the Displays page for?
Resolution, refresh rate and orientation per display, and the multi-display layout saved as a preset. It also tells you which one is the main display and where each display sits on the desktop.
What does the Drives page show?
A card per volume — model, SSD or HDD, health, wear, temperature — and a map of what takes up the space. The health verdict is the one Windows gives (Healthy, Warning, Failing), and the space map shows where the room goes, folder by folder.
What are the 3D settings for?
The NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics driver settings — Gaming and Idle profiles, global or per game. NVIDIA goes through its driver profile, AMD and Intel through the registry; the card colour and the MSI interrupt mode are set in the same place.
How is the Uninstall page different from Windows?
Your Windows programs uninstalled in batches, then leftovers tracked down and cleared one by one. The list sorts by name, publisher, version or size, and after each uninstall you choose what gets cleared among the leftovers found (folders, registry keys, shortcuts).
Is there a Stream Deck plugin?
A plugin and a local bridge: sync, status and PC metrics on your keys. Sensitive actions are never run straight from it — the key opens the wizard so a human confirmation stays in the loop.
What is the audio mixer?
A panel next to the clock: volume per app and per device, mic input, display brightness. This "Sound & displays" panel opens with a click on the AngAinOne icon in the taskbar, and keeps a shortcut to the Windows Sound settings.
Can the app be used with no account?
Everything that touches your PC works without an account — the account is for sync and public pages. If sign-in fails or you decline it, a "Continue without an account" button opens the app anyway.
What is the benchmark?
The built-in measurement — memory, processor, storage — and every score kept with its date. It adds an endurance run that loads the processor and the graphics card the way a game would; the protocol is versioned, so old results are never mixed with new ones.
What does the DLSS page do?
The DLSS DLLs in your games spotted and upgraded, with the old version kept aside. The most recent known DLL is checked before it is written; updating it can improve sharpness and in-game performance.
